Laura was born in Ontario, where she spent her early years thriving before moving to Quebec for her university education. She attended Concordia University, earning a degree in Applied Human Sciences with a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation. Her love for the mountains eventually drew her to Alberta. Summers spent working in Kananaskis solidified her connection to the region, where she finally decided to settle.
Laura's passion for community, recreation, and play developed during her summers working at residential camps for youth with disabilities. With many years of experience in program management roles for non-profit youth organizations, she has honed her skills and commitment to fostering community connections. Driven by her passion, Laura founded her own business focused on the physical literacy and fundamental movement skills of young children. She emphasizes the importance of playing in natural spaces.
Laura's journey into the world of cycling began with her son's love for wheels. Her first experience on a BMX race bike ignited a new passion. She finds joy in playing bikes with family and friends! She is dedicated to getting more women and girls participating in BMX, as well as all sports and physical recreation.
An active community member, Laura serves on the Town of Cochrane Parks & Recreation Committee and coaches her daughter's basketball team. Her involvement reflects her dedication to fostering an active and engaged community.
