The Life of a Bike

We receive over 1,400 bike donations a year, from the general public as well as through Calgary Transit, Calgary Police Services and other partners.

Donation

All of the bikes at Two Wheel View have been donated - from the general public, Calgary Transit, Calgary Police Services and other partners.

Our donation model keeps 1,400 bikes from the landfill every year.

Repair & Tune

Bikes that can be fixed are delivered to the shop for a full assessment by our senior mechanic. From here, they’ll be worked on by our staff and volunteers, repaired and tuned with new parts and accessories.

Assessment

Every bike we receive goes through a complete mechanical assessment, to determine whether the bike should be repaired or recycled.

Program Bikes

Some bikes will become Earn-a-Bike or GAP projects. These after-school program gives youth and young adults an opportunity to learn basic mechanic skills and earn a bike, helmet, lock and set of tools.

Bikes for Sale

Higher quality bikes and parts are cleaned, repaired, and marked for sale in our social enterprise bike shop. Revenue from the shop goes on to fund TWV programming.

Shop bikes

Second Chance

Whether a bike is given to a program participant or sold through our social enterprise, it gets a second chance with a new owner.

Bikes in major disrepair are recycled through our continuing cycles program, or set aside for one of our partners.

Intentional community building should not be overlooked. When we come together, we talk through our insecurities, our uncertainties and share stories to help us better understand each other and the world we live in.
