Born in Regina and raised SW of Calgary, John joins Two Wheel View after five years working in Calgary’s bike industry in the role of Service Advisor, where he learned the value of simple, repairable, reliable bikes and the role they play in keeping our communities healthy and sustainable.
John earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, as well as a Bachelor of Management in International Business, which allowed him to minor in Spanish and spend a semester studying in Ecuador. Between semesters at the University of Lethbridge, he spent his summers guiding tourist trips by horseback near Waterton National Park, where he deepened his love of the outdoors and reaffirmed the benefits of traveling slowly.
After graduation – and a brief stint in a suit and tie – John’s travel bug led him back to school, where he studied to teach English as a second language. For more than two years, he lived in China and taught reading and writing to freshman English majors. His time abroad ended abruptly when the pandemic began and he returned home to the Calgary area. In search of new ways to explore, he rekindled his love of bikes and rediscovered life in Calgary on two wheels.
John enjoys the sense of independence he gets from bikes and the ability to repair them, and he’s keen to help others access the many benefits of traveling by bike, whether commuting, touring and bikepacking, or just getting outside for some fresh air and exercise.
