TWV Champion Profile: Emily Parkin

January 18, 2018

A highly involved teacher with students and Two Wheel View since 2014, Emily Parkin is a champion who has attended four bike trips and participated in countless bike mechanic sessions.

Origin: Owen Sound, Ontario

When not at TWV, I can often be found… Playing in the mountains

What do you like about volunteering/ being a champion at TWV: The people, the values, the mission, the goal, and of course the bikes.

If someone was considering volunteering at TWV what would be a few selling points you would give them?  “Changing kids lives from the seat of a bike.” What more information do you need?

Favourite travel destination: Nature

Who was your role model growing up?  Olympic athletes… Beckie Scott, Clara Hughes, Cassie Campbell, Hayley Wickenheiser to name a few.  Having lived in Canmore, I’m lucky enough to call a few of them friends now.

An item I never forget on a bike trip is… My camera

TWV should plan a bike trip to… British Columbia

If a kid walked up asking for your life advice and you only had a few minutes to give ‘em your best tip, what would it be?  Hmm tough question. As a teacher, this question is reality everyday though.  Try your best, never give up and try to have a little bit of fun along the way.

“I was not made for just one place.”
