Meet David – TWV Trip Leader

May 24, 2016

David is leading our Alberta Team (along with Tanielle) as a part of the Alberta-Quebec Exchange 2016. This is David’s first year as a Trip Leader with Two Wheel View. Watch for pictures from this trip on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #TWVTrips2016! This trip is supported by the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s Youth Exchanges Canada Program and funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage.

Name: David White

Job Title at TWV: Volunteer Trip Leader

Favourite Bike: My Single Speed Globe 1. Although it really is hard to choose. After not riding one for a while I wonder if it missed me as much as I missed it.

Favourite Travel Destination: Canmore, Alberta.  Fabulous riding on pavement and dirt single track.  It’s a playground.

Favourite thing about TWV: TWV has a well aligned drive train.  The vision and mission are big and the components are all aligned to achieve them.

When I’m not at TWV, I can often be found… I’m committed at the moment to the 5 “B’s” of Biking, Baking sour dough Bread, grand Babies, Backyard gardening and Beer.  Not necessarily in that order.

Best Bike Tip: the toughest trip was Banff to Whitefish last summer.  We called it the Ice and Fire tour.  The Napa and Sonoma Valley tour was exceptional too.  Hmmm. I don’t think there’s ever been a bad bike trip.

Who was your role model growing up? My dad.  He was a hard working guy who tirelessly volunteered his skills and passion for others.  He didn’t have the word “no” in his vocabulary.  It was always “yes and”….  In his retirement he was busier than I was at my full time job helping others.

Best Advice Received…  Seek to understand before being understood.

TWV should plan a bike trip to… The Netherlands.  Lots of safe bike routes.

Favourite Quote: We value what we spend our time and money on.  (A reminder from Sheilah Sommer – my wife!)
