Reflections of a well travelled summer – Part 2: La belle province

October 7, 2015

Did you know that Two Wheel View does customized experiences for groups? We do! This summer we took the youth group from Woodcliff United Church here in Calgary on a custom-made trip from Montreal to Quebec City. From the seat of a bike, the youth and their leaders got to more closely experience the culture, language, food and traditions of Quebec than you would on any other tour. There is nothing like pedalling by a french bakery as the smell of freshly made pastries fills the air. Or cycling by the St. Lawrence River, watching the boats float along in the opposite direction. This mode of transportation also allows for unique access to the significant pieces of Canadian history that can be found in this area; battlefields of the past, buildings with storied pasts, the bustling markets and colourful street performers. By experiencing a trip, such as this Quebec trip, it’s a slower, more rich experience. All your senses are engaged with this mode of travel and you play a bigger role in the adventure. There is a reason that we call these trips life-changing, the memories you make stay vivid and the connections you make with others and the environment are deep.

As we co-designed this experience together, our trip planners and leaders developed a clear understand of what the group wanted to achieve from the trip and were able to ensure  all the desired learning outcomes were met. We were able to make it the trip they wanted. As you can see from the smiles in these pictures, I think we hit the nail on the head. Woodcliff United Church’s Youth Group Leader Amy Spark, shared this with us after the trip:

“I worked closely with the Two Wheel View staff team in preparation for the 2015 Quebec trip as a chaperone.  My experience was overwhelmingly positive!  It was great to have clear expectations of the chaperone’s role in the preparation process and while on trip.  Two Wheel View takes care of all the logistics and safety planning, allowing outside group leaders/chaperones to focus on fundraising and registration.  The staff and organization as a whole are personable, passionate, and always focused on a positive leadership experience for youth.  I would highly recommend working with Two Wheel View!”
