Two Wheel View Ride Leader Training Weekend- Pushing Pedals

June 3, 2015

Before anything else, preparation is the key to success. ~Alexander Graham Bell

Setting the young people we work with up for success starts with making sure our staff are prepared. Training and risk management is not taken lightly here and we are lucky to have Rick as our leader in this area. He has been doing this for over 15 years after all!

The 3rd annual Trip Leader Training took place May 22-24 and saw 11 leaders sharing, learning and laughing as they biked a route from Rick’s house through Bragg Creek to Okotoks and back to Calgary. Rick led us through discussions about risk management and safety, gear and equipment, food preparation and waste management as well as maps and navigation. It was a full weekend but everyone left feeling empowered and inspired to share our skills and experiences with the young people we are lucky enough to take on trips. We were thankful for seasoned leaders Tanya, Jonny, Kerry and others who shared their experiences with new members of our team. This trip is just one part of our Ride Leader Training Program, which has leaders meet once a month throughout the year to learn about the Two Wheel View way of group management, trip safety and intentional learning experiences.

We were once again blessed with perfect biking weather and two wonderful nights of camping (Thanks Dick and Jonny!) Check out some of the photos from the road.
