Reblog from our Quebec Exchange Group’s School Blog.
This TWVTrip has 10 youth and one teacher from the Morley First Nation on route to Quebec with Rick, Sasha and Jonny from Two Wheel View. In Montreal they will meet up with Anne-Marie, coordinator of the brand new TWV Montreal, and 9 students from Montreal and bike the famous Route Verte in Quebec. In June the Quebec group will come to Alberta and the entire team will ride from Calgary to Banff. Thanks to YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada for their support of this opportunity.
Montreal to St Jean Sur Richelieu
Today we had an early start to a very wet and long day. We left Old Montreal around 8:30am, in the cold, pouring rain. Despite the weather, our spirits were high and we were keen to see what the Quebec group had planned for our day.
A highlight of the morning was cycling as fast as we could around the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve!
We stopped and had lunch after cycling for about 22km. It was a welcome break from the elements and we had a chance to re-energize to tackle the remaining 29km.
Through mud, rain, laughter, Parkin’s singing, bumps, flat tires, tired and sore muscles, we endured it all until the end when we arrived in St Jean Sur Richelieu. We were welcomed with snacks, juice and coffee by our hotel hosts.
For dinner, we were treated to a nearby Greek restaurant.
We hope to get lots of rest tonight in preparation for camping on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
