Reblog from our Quebec Exchange Group’s School Blog.
This TWVTrip has 10 youth and one teacher from the Morley First Nation on route to Quebec with Rick, Sasha and Jonny from Two Wheel View. In Montreal they will meet up with Anne-Marie, coordinator of the brand new TWV Montreal, and 9 students from Montreal and bike the famous Route Verte in Quebec. In June the Quebec group will come to Alberta and the entire team will ride from Calgary to Banff. Thanks to YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada for their support of this opportunity.
Day 2 – New Friends
Today was our first full day in Montreal. We woke up, had some world famous Montreal bagels and fresh coffee for breakfast and walked to the Metro station. We traveled to the Quebec organizer’s home, where she had all the bikes ready and waiting for us. It was here that we met the 9 students from Quebec.
It took a while to pack up, but once our bikes were sized, we were on the road! We stopped in a local park and enjoyed lunch, a quick soccer game and lots of water fights to stay cool!
We biked approximately 13km back to the accommodation in Old Montreal.
In our free time this afternoon, a group of girls were keen to check out the Bell Centre where the Montreal Canadiens play (boo habs!). Although it was empty, we were able to grab some photos and take a sneak peak inside the Hall Fame gallery. We were delighted to listen to the talents of 2 Music Academy students who have joined us on the trip. Many of our new friends were blown away by their talent. It’s early to bed tonight as we have a 47km biking day tomorrow.
