I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I refer to this summer as an EPIC event in the history of TWV. I thought I would give you a brief synopsis to give you an idea of the adventure we have ahead of us. I endeavor to capture each one of these in more detailed articles throughout the summer so stay tuned for those!
Alberta- Quebec Exchange PART 1– Rick, Sasha and Jonny will be heading to Montreal with a group of students from the Morley First Nations Community, meeting up with our friend Anne-Marie and her group to start the first part of our
Alberta-Quebec Exchange Trip. This 9-day trip will include a visit to a sugar shack, volunteer opportunities and following the famous Route Verte.
Ride Leader Orientation Trip- This trip is a part of our Rider Leader Development Program. As we grow and provide more trips, we are working hard to provide leadership development opportunities to our new and experienced ride leaders alike.
Strachan Hartley Legacy Foundation/Morley Community School Trip– This trip was so successful last year, we’ve added a day! Students will be dropped off at Lake Louise and bike back to their community.
Alberta-Quebec Exchange PART 2– The Quebec Team comes west and the whole group bikes from Calgary to Banff. This portion of the trip will go through the Morley First Nations community for a traditional ceremony.
Bike Camp- Our summer Cycle Camp with Vivo (formerly Cardel Place) starts with two weeks in July and two weeks in August. Our summer student Tara will be leading the mechanics, crafts and rides this year. Look for an article or two from her on the blog!
Argentina- Our Volunteer Service Trip to Argentina takes off in July. These students were chosen from many applicants to participate in this opportunity and we are looking forward to getting to know these students. They’ll be volunteering in both Calgary and in Argentina!
Norway– Rick and Tanya are leading a group of adults through the Arctic Circle of Norway. This will be an incredible ride as there is almost 24 hours of sunlight at this time of year! We already have applicants for 2016 so sign up soon for this one if you are interested.
Badlands to Banff- The 3rd edition of this trip with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program is set to ride out in August from Drumheller- Destination: Banff!
Quebec- Colin will be leading a group of youth many of whom are with the Woodcliff United Church along the Route Verte in Quebec. It’s going to be a great adventure!
In total this adds up 91 trip days (including Adult Argentina in March. This trip is filing up for 2016 so contact us if you are interested!) in 2015.
What do you think? Is it going to be an EPIC summer or what?
