Meet Sara! Former Trips Participant and Guest Blogger!
I am so excited to introduce you to Sara, an incredible young woman who has been on a TWV Trip and has agreed to be a guest blogger for us! Stay tuned for another article from Sara soon! Thanks Sara! ~Laura
TWV Trip you participated in: Argentina 2012
Favourite memory from my trip: My favourite memory would have to be the night we stayed at the campground that boarded a lake. We all put on our bathing suits and jumped off the dock and swam and laughed and had an amazing time despite the water being freezing!
Greatest thing I learned about myself on my trip: That if I put in the effort I can do just about anything, like never once getting off and walking with my bike despite us biking up an actual mountain.
Favourite trip meal: All of our meals were delicious but my favourite meal would hands down be the little feast that Jakarta, another trip participant, and I had when we were in the mountains.
Next place I’d like to travel to: Bali Indonesia, I am actually going there this summer!
Since the trip I’ve…. developed wanderlust. I have grown to love travelling to different countries and experiencing the world for what it really is; a place of wonder. Since the trip I have travelled to Baja Mexico, England and Colombia.
Favourite thing about TWV: How kind and caring the staff and trip leaders are. They are all so genuine and kind in such a way that I felt comforted and secure during the days leading up to, and during, the trip itself.
When I’m not taking a trip with TWV, I can often be found… at my Hot Yoga studio where I practice Bikram style yoga approximately 4-5 times a week.
Best Bike Tip: Argentina hands down. Why you might ask? It was an experience that allowed us to see the true culture and live the true Argentinian experience. We saw big city life in Buenos Aires yet we also biked through forests and flat lands through Salta to Tucuman.
Who is your role model? As cheesy as it may sound I would say my grandmother, abuelita as we say in Spanish, because all of her life she has worked hard and diligently in order to put food on the table and her five kids (my father and aunts) through school and university.
Best advice you would give to someone considering a TWV Trip: If you want to make the most of your trip, set a goal for yourself and work hard to achieve it. Perhaps it is simply making lifelong friends on the trip, or learning 10 words in Spanish, either way choose something that you will be proud of when you look back on it in the future. Also, bring a headlamp; a flash light only goes so far in a dark crowded tent!
TWV should plan a bike trip to… somewhere in Asia, like Japan or Thailand. The landscape would be so amazing to bike through and the cultural experience would be out of this world!
