Adult Argentina- Join the Ride!
On March 1st, Rick and a group of travellers will embark on our annual Adult Argentina Ride. As they pedal through a number of diverse landscapes, the group will experience the authentic culture of the region, eating traditional foods and meeting local people. The trip includes 11 nights of accommodation in country estates, B&B’s and family run hostels; one night camping at a trout farm in the Calchaquí mountains, three sight-seeing days in Salta, Cafayate and Tafi de Valle; all group meals, and pre-trip support and instruction for getting ready.
Starting their experience in the provincial capital city of Salta, our group will follow the route our students will take on their summer trip. The route out of Salta is on highway 68 through beautiful countryside and small traditional villages with colonial main squares. Toward the end of the fourth day the road will follow a beautiful river called the Rio del las Conchas. The scenery includes lots of red rocks, tall mountains and blue sky. Alemania is an artisan village in an abandoned railroad town along the river. Here we stay at an artisan cheese farm B&B where our group can taste home made cheese and local wines.
The ride from Tafí del Valle to Yerba Buena will feature one of the most incredible downhill rides. The group will descend from Tafí del Valle into the lush, low-lying areas near the City of San Miguel de Tucuman. The landscape will change from high alpine desert to lush green, forested areas. This will be the longest day of riding but well worth the effort. They will pass by some sugar cane processing plants, lemon orchards and other farms. They will travel on a quiet road that skirts the base of the mountain range they descended the day before. Final days will be spent exploring the city of San Miguel de Tucuman before heading home.
