Name: Sasha Liston
Job Title at TWV: Environmental Education Coordinator / Program Facilitator
Favourite Bike: Pretty much every vintage Bianchi road bike will turn my head.
Favourite Travel Destination: Yukon, Canada
Favourite thing about TWV:
I am blown away by the fact that being a part of TWV instills a unique blend of freeness of spirit and empowerment that allows you to explore a diversity of life experiences.
When I’m not at TWV, I can often be found…
Cycling around Calgary, hanging out on green roofs with plants and bees, hiking or x-country skiing in the mountains, reading and re-reading Gabriel García Márquez and Annie Proulx, and my absolute favourite activity of hanging out with my wonderful partner, Jamie.
Best Bike Tip:
I like keeping a few extra removable lights in my pocket or bag when cycling (like those small LED turtle lights from MEC). While they don’t shed a ton of light they are easy to take on and off your bike, so you don’t need to worry about them getting snagged, and great to have on hand if you dusk sneaks up on you.
FYI- legally you need lights while cycling at dusk/dark, keeping visible will keep you safe!
Who was your role model growing up? My mom, she is a gem.
Best Advice Received: If you have the chance to do something, go for it.
TWV should plan a bike trip to… Tombstone Territorial Park, Yukon, Canada
