Ride Across Alberta with John McWhae Fundraiser

Congratulations to Dr. John McWhae for completing his record setting ride across Alberta on July 8th! He's raised more than $11,000 and counting for Two Wheel View's Full Cycle Program. There is still time to donate at the link below!

Learn more about his ride here: https://medicinehatnews.com/news/local-news/2021/07/08/calgary-man-will-ride-bike-across-alberta-in-a-day-for-arthritis-support/

Dr. John McWhae remembers well what it was like not to be able to ride a bike. In fact, he faced barriers to riding a bike for almost a decade, due to arthritis. This summer, his goal is to ride across Alberta at its narrowest point, about 375 km, on his recumbent bike, in ONE day!

Even though he rides a recumbent, John is not taking this challenge lying down. He is training with with his coach Greg Kolodziejzyk, a World Record Holder for distance over 24 hours on both land and water. Last spring, he did a 300 km ride which included riding over Highwood Pass in under 11 hours of riding time. That ride involved nearly 2000m of climbing!

This event is registered with the World Ultra-Cycling Association and there currently exists no recorded time or documentation of such a ride. John wants to ride to support Two Wheel View ensure youth are able to overcome the barriers they face to living a life on two wheels.
